About us

Ross Hall Hospital opened in 1983 and is part of Circle Health Group, the UKs largest independent healthcare provider. Located in Glasgow, the hospital serves the West of Scotland and further afield offering a wide range of services from Dermatology to Orthopaedics.

Over 330 consultants practice privately from the hospital and are supported by caring and professional medical staff including 24-hour Resident Medical Officers. Consultants undertake a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery within a friendly, safe and comfortable environment. The hospital provides the reassurance of onsite intensive care facilities at a level above most private hospitals, should they be required. With a team of resident doctors available 24 hours a day, the hospital provides an ideal environment to ensure patients are safe and cared for at all times.

Appointments are arranged at a time to suit you, whether that be during the day or in the evening. We see patients on both an insured and self-pay basis, those with private medical insurance should check their policy details with their provider prior to attending any appointments.

You can self-refer for a majority of our services without the need for a referral from your GP.

From the moment you contact the hospital our staff are here to help. We provide information and reassurance about your diagnosis and treatment and whether you are attending as an outpatient or being admitted for surgery, our staff and processes are designed to put you at ease.

In 2022 Ross Hall Hospital opened an additional facility - Ross Hall Clinic Braehead. Located in the Titanium Business Park across from Braehead Shopping Centre, the new facility (only 10 minutes from Ross Hall Hospital) saw the relocation and expansion of a number of services.

Located in Glasgow, both Ross Hall Hospital and Ross Hall Clinic Braehead serve the West of Scotland and further afield, offering a wide range of services from outpatient consultations to complex surgery.

Both facilities are easily accessible by road and public transport, with free parking on-site.

Should patients require treatment on an inpatient/daycase basis, this will be carried out at Ross Hall Hospital, except from local anaesthetic ophthalmic procedures, which will take place within Eye Care Scotland at Ross Hall Clinic Braehead.

Ross Hall Hospital hosts 88 private en-suite patient bedrooms, as well as 6 operating theatres, a Diagnostic Imaging Department (MRI, CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Mammography), a Chemotherapy Unit, an Endoscopy Suite, an ICU/HDU Department and a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory. Within our outpatients department, we see patients for orthopaedics and breast surgery, whilst we also have a Physiotherapy Department and an on-site Pharmacy.

All other outpatient specialties are located at Ross Hall Clinic Braehead along with additional MRI and x-ray, our Cardiology Department, Respiratory Laboratory, Skin Centre, and our Eye Care Department (Eye Care Scotland) which hosts two theatres, four consultation rooms and two diagnostic rooms.

Robotics

Future-first robotic technology at Ross Hall Hospital

We have invested in state-of-the-art, high-performance robotic technology. This helps our consultants perform complex surgery across multiple specialist areas of medicine, including women's health, joint health, and cancer care.

The future-first robotic models allow your consultant to perform surgery with smaller incisions and a far more intricate approach, offering long-lasting outcomes and a speedier recovery time. With less time in hospital, you can return to the peace and comfort of your own home and get better faster. Robotic surgery redefines many aspects of traditional surgery and comes with a huge range of transformative benefits. These include imaging, navigation, and precision and technique. This helps your consultant perform the procedure with even more accuracy and control, and it speeds up your recovery time.

It is important to remember that your consultant is in control of your surgery at all times.

The robot is made up of a series of mechanical arms that are linked to a console. The robot arms move alongside your consultant's hand movements in real time, mimicking your consultant as they perform the surgery. Your consultant can see the inside of your body and their hand movements happening via high-definition, 3D real-time image. They can use the robotic system to make smaller and more accurate movements than possible with their own hands, which is perfect for the ultimate precision.

Our robotics here at Ross Hall Hospital include a da Vinci robot, Stealth Navigation system, and 3D mitral valve surgery.
