The Blackheath Hospital, located in Greenwich, supports patients across Greenwich, Lewisham, and Bexley. In 2024, the hospital proudly celebrated 40 years of providing care to the local community.
The specialist facilities available at Blackheath, combined with the latest in technology and on-site support services, enable our consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery. This is supported by caring and professional medical staff, with dedicated nursing teams and Resident Medical Officers on duty 24 hours a day, providing care within a friendly and comfortable environment.
Blackheath Hospital has 31 beds with all rooms offering the privacy and comfort of en-suite facilities, satellite TV and telephone. The hospital has 3 lamina flow theatres. There is a 2 bedded Enhanced Care Unit (ECU). There is immediate access to nursing support via the call system. Our outpatient department has access for some specialties to 'same day' diagnostics, so all undertaken at one visit.
Our supportive Physiotherapy team located in our Watts Building (10 Independents Rd) are ready and willing to assist outpatients and recovering inpatients. They can offer you advice and treatment for the prevention of sports injuries, rehabilitation post injuries. In addition to assessing what has contributed to your risk of injury including your biomechanics, muscle imbalances and look to address these moving forwards.
The hospital offers children and young people services, with consultations from 0+years and procedures from 16+years.
There are few restrictions on visiting hours and visitors can join patients for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. Menus change daily.
We as a Hospital have recently invested £6.5 million into the hospital, to enhance the Outpatients, Wards and Physiotherapy departments along with a new look reception area.
The Blackheath Hospital now offers VELYS Robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery where your surgeon uses robotic technology to help them perform knee surgery, allowing them to be more precise and accurate. This can offer a range of benefits, including less pain and a faster recovery.
The hospital provides Level 1 Enhanced Care services as well as a resident medical officer (RMO) who is available 24 hours a day to ensure that patients are safe and cared for at all times. Should your care needs change following surgery or treatment, we may need to transfer you to another hospital. This will either be to an NHS or another Circle hospital. Transfers of care only take place when absolutely necessary.
