About us

The Chiltern Hospital is a modern, fully equipped hospital allowing fast access to specialised diagnostics like blood tests, X-rays and scans.

The hospital located in South Buckinghamshire is sat within 18 acres of private grounds including a 9 hole golf course. It has 2 wards comprising of 66 beds, 3 operating theatres, minor ops room, JAG accredited Endoscopy Suite, Cancer Care Unit and a large Physiotherapy Unit for post-surgery convalescence.

The Chiltern hospital has a state-of-the art Imaging Department with a brand new GE CT scanner.

We also have a resident medical officer (RMO) who is available 24 hours a day to ensure that patients are safe and cared for at all times. Should your care needs change following surgery or treatment, we may need to transfer you to another hospital. This will either be to an NHS or another Circle hospital. Transfers of care only take place when absolutely necessary.

Please note that the Chiltern Hospital offers a consultation only service for children and young people. The Chiltern Hospital cannot offer any surgical or interventional procedures to those aged under 16.

If your child is seeing a consultant who also has clinics at the Shelburne Hospital, you will not be able to make an appointment at the Shelburne as they do not offer any services for children and young people and cannot see or treat anyone under the age of 18

Car

From London:

Leave the M40 at Junction 2.Take the A355 to Beaconsfield.Once in Beaconsfield follow the signs for Amersham on the A355.At the main roundabout take the A413 towards Great Missenden. After a dual carriageway section, The Chiltern Hospital is on the left after passing under a bridge.

From Aylesbury:

Take the A413 heading towards Wendover and Great Missenden. After the roundabout which is signposted 'Chesham' to the left, take the next right. he Hospital is on the left.

From Hemel Hempstead/Watford:

Take the A41 towards Aylesbury and exit at the Chesham junction. At the first roundabout turn right onto the A416 to Chesham. Passing through Ashley Green at the next roundabout turn left. Take the second exit at the next roundabout, and straight over the following one. At the next roundabout, double back on yourself and take the first road on the left, the B485 to Great Missenden. Continue until you reach a roundabout and turn left, onto the A413. The hospital is on the right after approx 0.5 miles.

Train

The nearest station is Great Missenden on the Chiltern Line out of Marylebone, London.

  • Yes, our hospitals have free WiFi access for our patients and visitors. 
  • Once your appointment is booked, you can request to receive a confirmation email or letter with all the necessary information. To find the confirmation email, please search your email inbox for any message from [email protected].

    You will also receive a text reminder 48 hours prior to your appointment with all the details you need. Please note that this will not be sent if the appointment is booked within 48 hours of the appointment date.

    • An Overview of the facilities at our hospital 

      The Chiltern Hospital has 66 bedrooms with the majority offering the privacy and comfort of ensuite facilities.
      The hospital also has three theatres, as well as an Endoscopy suite, CT and MRI Scanner, 13 consulting rooms, which includes a dedicated ENT and Ophthalmology rooms. The hospital also has its own physiotherapy department and rehabilitation gym.

      These facilities combined on-site support services, enable our consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery. This specialist expertise is supported by caring and professional medical staff, with dedicated nursing teams and Resident Medical Officers on duty 24 hours a day, providing care within a friendly and comfortable environment.

      Patient care is undeniably our first concern. Our dedicated nursing staff provide professional care within a friendly and comfortable environment, helping to ensure that coming into hospital is a more pleasurable and less anxious time for you and your family. Comfort is assured with our bedrooms offering privacy while providing immediate access to nursing support.

      All rooms have free WiFi access and radio, with the majority of rooms offering en-suite facilities. The hospital prides itself on quality meals and service, with menus tailored to individual preferences and dietary needs.

      Paying for treatment
      All patients are welcome - whether they choose to pay directly for their treatment or by using their private medical insurance. We arrange direct settlement with insurance companies, but patients should pre-check their level of cover. For self-paying patients we accept a number of payment methods.
